Party it up – Photo of the Day #62

Party it up

This was a random shot of a wedding party at The Dubliner in Mizner Park. I have no idea why they were *there* of all places, but they were and looked to be having some fun. I believe this is the bride and groom.

The back-lit hookah – Photo of the Day #60

The backlit hookah

This was shot for reddit’s /r/photoit subreddit: http://bit.ly/cJYZHb . The idea was to simply take a picture of something that would look different backlit and this was it. The hookah is my 36″ tall Khalil Mamoon that I received for Christmas two years ago. You can just barely make out the words near the top of the photo itself.

Undulating motion – Photo of the Day #58

Undulating motion

An accidental snap I took while walking to Starbucks in Mizner Park. The up/down wave motion is the result of taking a few steps, I rather like it. It’s underexposed because I was shooting for "sunny 16" earlier in the day and didn’t adjust my f-stop for the dusk sky.

What shall we watch tonight? – Photo of the Day #55

What shall we watch tonight?

This is most of my girlfriend’s DVD collection. We had to move everything off of our new Ikea cabinets so we could put doors on them! I don’t know what was more tedious, taking all her DVDs down or mounting 30lb melamine doors, ugh!

Clean up your poop! – Photo of the Day #54

Clean up your poop!

Just one of the many signs around the neighborhood. I love the green tone this is giving off due to the flourescent white balance I used. The print on the sign itself is green and the light source is a pale cool white with a tinge of green flourescent. Makes for a very interesting photo!

Play me some jazz funk – Photo of the Day #53

Play me some jazz funk

Took this tonight at wine tasting in Davie, where they had a local jazz band playing whose name I can’t recall at this moment. They were well in time together and played some smooth tunes, even did a rendition of a Bob Marley song.

I was displeased with the lighting though. I had three different types of light sources (warm flourescent, daylight flourescent, and some weird white tungstens) that I could never get to white balance just right. The rest of the shots I took turned out terribly, so next time I’ll be taking my own diffused flash. It was fun though.

So many choices, only one night – Photo of the Day #52

So many choices, only one night

This is just a few of the restaurants available at "The Turn" in Deerfield Beach next to the ocean. Truthfully, I’ve never eaten on that side of the road, we always eat on the opposite side with Flanigan’s and The Whale’s Rib. Fresh seafood at its finest!

All it takes is one drop – Photo of the Day #51

All it takes is one drop

This is an absolutely great blood splatter. Except for the fact that it’s not blood at all! This is a stain from the inside of a HYDROXYCUT supplement pill. I have no idea what this is actually is chemically but it’s visually identical to blood. Where’s Dexter when you need him?!

A smile and a nod – Photo of the Day #50!

A smile and a nod

This is the absolute best picture I got out of a recent roll of Kodak HD 400 color film using my Yashica Electro35 GSN. We were leaving the house pretty quickly and I just asked Jess to smile and this is what came out, I’m VERY happy with it.

What a paper trail – Photo of the Day #49

What a paper trail

These two stacks of phone books have been sitting by our mailboxes for over 4 months because no one is ever going to use them. Our property managers are apparently oblivious to this fact. I’ve seen kids using them to build steps and play, so I guess that’s some kind of good.
