I, for example, can remember 15 digit numbers off the top of my head, count things, and add 6 numbers in my head without issue, but can't seem to ever remember where I put my sunglasses, keys, or cell phones. It's that "I have a knack for remembering _______________" (how to spell, foreign languages, numbers, science, mundane facts, dates, etc.). Everyone has their forte, and yes, it may sound like an excuse to say "my brain simply doesn't function in that way", but I really think it's true -- that different brains function in different ways -- and for whatever may *not* be the person's strong suit, he/she has to work a million times harder to remember something such as where he/she put his/her sunglasses or how to solve an equation or the date Columbus sailed the ocean blue. Poppycock. Unless you are mentally handicapped, it is complete nonsense to say that your brain doesn't function in a certain way.
