The Dethalbum has been acquired

I finally got my hands on the special edition Dethalbum from [adult swim]‘s most brutal band: Dethklok. Jess and I spent the better part of the week searching for the CD around Boca but no one had it (Best Buy didn’t even have the album, period. Those knobs didn’t even stock it). We had to go all the way to the dreadful Hot Topic in Boynton to pick it up. However, it was a great segue to getting tacos and tamales at Tacos al Carbon which were excellent, including the shredded beef tongue taco I tried. Seems I’m the first person in my immediate family that’s actually eaten beef tongue although, my father and sister have eaten far more…interesting things before — such as scrambled eggs and pig brains.

I also picked up Eternal Sonata and Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball 2 (oh, I cannot wait to play) for the 360. The reviews of ES were correct, the game is definitely gorgeous but each time a character starts some dialogue, to make some coffee. Almost every cut scene takes at least 5 minutes to complete which is a serious time waster in my opinion. I know they have a story to tell but geez, do I need the story — and political message — fed to me in such lengthy portions?

Now we’re about to eat some Aussie food and watch a movie!

This is one huge baby

I can’t imagine the doctor’s face when he saw this behemoth coming out.

Let the metal begin

Tonight I received my pre-release of Arch Enemy‘s new album The Rise of the Tyrant along with my super sweet grey/silver accompanying t-shirt (which is freaking SWEET looking). Tomorrow is the release for the Dethalbum by Dethklok and you’re damned sure I’m picking up the double disc edition.

I’m getting a serious…er feeling right now. The CD release season is upon us.

I would love to be…

Completely DETHTROCUTED. I just saw the season 2 premier of Metalocalypse and it was a great way to start the season, if not a tad confusing. The opener revealed some things that happened between seasons that will play out heavily between the efforts of the Tribunal attempting to topple Dethklok and Dethklok’s new album release (on the show, not the real CD coming out on Tuesday). Looks like it’ll be one hell of a season.

We rushed home from Shisha Cafe to catch the show and it was at a great time. My bowl of blueberry vanilla shisha had pretty much run out and it was quite awesome. I’m not a fan of anything blueberry but this stuff was great. Berg’s homemade shisha is, from my experience, a notch above the commercial stuff I have and it’s great to get something homemade like that. I’ve got a delivery of new hookah stuff coming this week so I’m eager to try my new batch of fresh apple cinnamon shisha on my new bowls and hose. New stuff makes me excited and I’m very excited for my new goodies!

So much for that idea

Well, we were supposed to be on our way to Orlando but we never got there. After we got off of work, today was mired by setbacks and ill timing. Besides leaving 90 minutes later than scheduled — we suck at time management — a host of problems came our way. The biggest setback in Boca was the fact that the gas station where we were trying to fill up lost power as soon as we got there however, we didn’t have enough in the tank to get anywhere so we had to wait. Thankfully, it didn’t take long but took long enough for me to scarf down my bagel and chug some coffee as I was expecting a long night ahead of me.

After about 30 minutes, we were greeted by a sign on the turnpike stating EXIT CLOSED TURNPIKE/95 AT JUPITER/INDIANTWN although I do not know where in central Florida Indiantwin is, I made the joke anyway. Well, this was a bad omen from the start. We pulled up to the Jupiter exit and traffic started slowing down immensely, with being mostly stopped. The next 75 or so minutes was spent moving an entire exit — roughly about 2 miles — and watching aggressive drivers vie for the Biggest Asshole In Florida award and some guy with a handicapped sticker in his Lexus SUV barely edged out some rude Italian guy who almost hit us three times while yelling at the SUV guy and scaring the hell out of his kids. I felt sorry for them because they had to live with someone that rude everyday. Since the Turnpike was at a standstill in both directions aside from random cars u-turning, as was I-95, I wondered what was going on so I rang my dad and he started researching because I thought it was very out of place to see two State Trooper APC units and an armored SWAT truck just drive by. Turns out a href=”http://www.wptv.com/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=54c0459c-de99-4e2d-8337-7a2ad5c98945″ target=”_blank”>some ass pulled a shotgun from his trunk and hid in the woods between I-95 and the Turnpike around Jupiter since they both follow the same path for about 8 miles. It’s not everyday you see Florida State Trooper APCs rolling around but it was damned cool! Coolest part of the day so far.

However, at this point it was nearing 7PM and that’s what time the show started so we drove on to the next exit for a bathroom break. From there, we decided that things had turned out pretty crappy and that we should probably go home given some quick realistic analysis we did. I wanted to see Arch Enemy quite badly in order to hear their new material for the CD that is being released next week but I also didn’t want to drive to Orlando and spend less than 2 hours at the club only to drive home afterwards. It’s utterly BORING driving in central Florida at night, let alone around 2AM when we would have been driving back.

We missed the show and are out $65 for the tickets because of some gun happy felon, which really sucks, but at least we’re home and ready to sleep.

On our way to Orlando to see A…

Interesting posts, week 10!

  • O’Reilly has released their CFP for the next Tools of Change conference.
Sounds pretty cool given Tim’s position on the publishing world.
  • Manage your power strip through anal retentiveness
A short little write-up on Lifehacker (let’s face it, they don’t “write” any more, it’s so sad. I miss the old LH where there was original and useful information) on how you should arrange your tons of power cords
  • Sony BMG and UMG want to charge you $7 for a ringtone
These ringtones are combined with a CD single — a format that’s been pretty dead since 2000 (and was dead when I worked in a CD store 8 years ago) — and cost you $6 or $7. Why? Obviously it costs a lot of money to make their $0.03 CDs (or maybe they should stop paying terrible artists inflated salaries)
  • BuzzFeed’s short iCarly list
I just watched this show for the first time on Sunday night and I was fairly impressed. Miranda Cosgrove has well outgrown being “Evil Megan” on Drake & Josh where she began stealing the show once Nick made Josh drop about 100lbs and Drake’s the goofy brother whose role on the show is now unneeded (see Eric Matthews from Boy Meets World for one of the best examples of “obsoletion by stupidity” in sitcoms). The show iCarly uses a lot of predictable situations but their use of user generated media to flesh out portions of the show is its strongest point.
  • Microsoft launches Top 10 list FUD at Google Apps for Enterprise
This is a good chuckle given some of the things MSFT says such as “Google has a history of releasing incomplete products, calling them beta software” (I cut off the last bit). Like Microsoft hasn’t done this in the last 7 years (Window ME and Vista, I’m talking about you), but at least Google acknowledges these products as beta and LABELS them as such. Seems Microsoft is really worried about the pressure the ol’ Goog is putting on them.
  • E. coli could be used to fight tooth decay
Shalini never fails to find really interesting science news but this is something else. That scary bacteria we’re all afraid of could actually protect our teeth!
  • Zimbra also fired some harpoons at Google (also at Read/WriteWeb citing SOX non-compliance)
It seems that Microsoft isn’t the only one trying to make swiss cheese out of Google’s Enterprise effort. This was a surprise given Zimbra’s just now getting their web apps off the ground with recent funding. Still no word from Zoho, but I suspect we’ll hear from them too as they’re Google’s only true online competitor for the comprehensive online office right now.
  • Google donates $10MUSD to sustainable transportation projects
Why does it take someone like Google to spark real interest in this? If there were more charitable companies giving away money, I think we’d be closer to dumping our oil dependency.
  • Social News versus Traditional News: Dumb or Dumberer?”
Mr. Gonzalez can articulate this much better than I can.
  • This might be the last post like this for a bit, there’s just very little interesting news that I’m finding right now so this takes a lot longer than normal to do.

Now Catholics hate Kathy Griffin like the rest of us

Because she told Jesus to suck it and proclaimed her new award as her god.

Bill Donohue found her comments “vulgar” but who cares, Catholics know less about vulgarity and “right from wrong” than anyone else.
